One request, no key.

Every endpoint answers a plain GET with JSON. There is nothing to sign up for. Call it from your server, or straight from a browser on any site. The base URL itself returns the list of endpoints.

Seven endpoints, all GET.

GET

/api/v1/events

Published events, each with a link to its page and to its other resources. By default the ones still to come, soonest first.

Parameters

statusquery
upcoming (default: still to come or happening now, soonest first), past (newest first), tba (cities whose date is to be announced, A to Z) or all.
cityquery
A city name. Accents and case are ignored, and common other names work: montreal, bombay.
countryquery
A country name, same rules: UAE finds United Arab Emirates.
continentquery
Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America or Oceania (north-america works too).
limitquery
Items per page, 1 to 100 (default 50).
offsetquery
Items to skip. meta.next holds the address of the next page, or null on the last one.

Every session in time order (the ones without a time come last), with its room, speakers and categories such as track or level. The registration desk, breaks and lunch are sessions too, marked isServiceSession.

Responses

One shape for data, one for errors.

Every response is JSON. A successful one puts the result in data and adds meta: paging for lists, the event for its speakers, sessions and schedule, and the attribution line. An error looks the same everywhere:

Fields worth knowing

  • status is upcoming, live, past, cancelled or tba. A tba event has no date yet: its dates are null and it lists no speakers or sessions.
  • startDate and endDate are calendar dates at the venue (YYYY-MM-DD). startTime and endTime are local times such as 09:00, when the organizers set them.
  • Session times are ISO 8601 in the event’s time zone with its offset, such as 2025-12-10T09:00:00+04:00, so their first 16 characters read as the local date and time. startsAtUtc is the same moment in UTC.
  • In data, a value we do not have is null or an empty list: fields are never left out. On an event’s speakers, sessions and schedule, meta.count is the number of speakers or sessions returned.
  • Session and speaker ids are strings, stable within an event. To recognise a person across events, use the speaker’s slug.
  • Every URL is absolute. Send people to the event’s url for tickets: the event page holds the registration button.

Limits and caching

Fast for everyone, fair for each.

  • 120 requests a minute per IP address. Above that you get 429 with a Retry-After header: the seconds to wait.
  • Cached at our edge for 5 minutes, then refreshed in the background, so a change made on AICD can take up to 15 minutes to show. Our CDN sets the Cache-Control header you receive, so do not rely on its values: use ETags to check for changes. Errors are not cached, except a 404, which is kept for 60 seconds.
  • ETags. Send a response’s ETag back in If-None-Match: when nothing changed you get 304 and no body.
  • Open CORS (Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *), so a page on any site can call the API. On a busy site, fetch on your server and keep the result for a few minutes rather than calling from every visitor’s browser.

Privacy

What the API never returns.

The API publishes programmes, not people’s private data or the business side of an event. It never returns:

  • Attendee lists, registrations, check-ins or the number of seats.
  • Certificates.
  • Ticket types, prices or any amount, sponsorship amounts included.
  • Email addresses and phone numbers of speakers, sponsors, organizers or anyone else. One written inside a bio or a description is replaced by [email hidden] or [phone hidden].
  • Online meeting links (Teams, Meet, Zoom and the like). One pasted into a description is replaced by [meeting link hidden].
  • Internal ids of people or accounts, and review or approval details.
  • Unpublished or draft events: their slugs answer 404, exactly like a slug that does not exist.

Versions and help

Stable in v1.

Version 1 is stable: we may add fields, but we will not rename or remove fields, or change what they mean, in v1. A breaking change would come as /api/v2.
