About AI App Makers Hackathon: Build an AI Teammate

Build an AI teammate in two days.

The AI App Makers Hackathon is two days of building, online, on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 December 2026. Teams of 3 to 5 people build an AI teammate: an app where AI works next to a person. It suggests, drafts, checks or acts, and the person stays in control.

We want apps that solve real problems. Our challenges come from real needs in Tunisia and beyond. Every team picks a real user and a real need, talks to people who live the problem, and builds something that works by Friday noon.

Where
Fully online. Teams build from anywhere. We meet on Microsoft Teams for the talks, checkpoints and demos, and on Discord for team rooms and mentoring. Every team has the same chances.

Results on stage at the AICD Summit
The jury chooses the winners on Friday evening. We announce the results on stage at the AICD Summit in Tunis on Saturday 5 December. Finalists who are not in Tunis join by video.

Who can join
• Students from any school: engineering, computer science, business, design, health, tourism.
• Young makers: junior developers, bootcamp graduates, citizen developers.
• Professionals: app makers, developers, data people, consultants.
• People who know a problem well: teachers, nurses, doctors, people from tourism, public servants, small business owners.
You do not need to be an expert. You need a laptop, a good internet connection, curiosity and a team. If you have no team, apply alone and we help you find one.

Three tracks
• Low-code AI teammate: Power Apps with Copilot, and Copilot Studio agents and agent flows. Pro-code apps on the same platform are welcome too.
• Data-powered AI teammate: Dataverse and Microsoft Fabric, with Power BI.
• Open track: any AI app builder or stack, for example Claude, Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit, Google AI Studio, or your own code.

Six challenges from real needs
• Education, "Stay in school": help teachers spot pupils at risk early, or help pupils learn in Arabic or French.
• Health, "More time for patients": help a clinic sort requests, explain care clearly and follow up patients. The AI never gives a diagnosis.
• Tourism, "Beyond the beach": help guesthouses, guides and artisans welcome visitors in several languages, all year round.
• Public services, "One step, not ten": help citizens prepare a procedure, and help agents answer requests.
• Small businesses, "A back office in your pocket": quotes, invoices, stock and customer messages for small firms.
• Water and farming, "Every drop counts": help farmers plan irrigation and track water use.
On the first morning we reveal one extra rule for every team: the Day 1 twist.

What you get
• A set-up clinic before the event, so your tools are ready on day 1.
• A certificate for every person in a team that submits a project.
• For finalists: the results moment at the AICD Summit, in person or by video.
• For the winners: a demo in our online AI App Makers series on Thursday 10 December.

How to take part
1. Click Register on this page. Every team member registers.
2. One team lead sends the team application with the "Submit a talk" button on this page. It uses our speaker submission form: choose your track and answer the questions about your team and your idea.

Schedule (Paris and Tunis time)
Tuesday 1 December, 19:00 to 20:00: set-up clinic online.
Thursday 3 December: 09:00 opening on Teams, 10:30 build starts, mentoring rounds and a checkpoint, the live day ends at 20:00.
Friday 4 December: 09:00 stand-up, 12:00 code freeze and submission, 14:00 demos to the jury, 16:10 finals live for everyone, 18:00 end.
Saturday 5 December: results on stage at the AICD Summit in Tunis.
Thursday 10 December: the winners demo their app in our online AI App Makers series.

Rules in short
• Teams of 3 to 5. One person, one team.
• No pre-built apps: research, talk to users and sketch before the event, but no code, app, flow or agent before Thursday 3 December at 10:30. Public libraries, templates and starter kits are fine if you list them.
• AI use is allowed and declared: tell us which tools you used and for what. Inside your app, users must know when they see AI output.
• Public or synthetic data only. No real personal data, and never health or identity data. No AI images, voices or videos of real people.
• Your project belongs to your team. You allow us to show your project name, description, screenshots, demo video and team names when we talk about the hackathon.
• Submission by Friday 12:00: a link to your app or code, a demo video of 2 minutes at most, a one-page summary, your AI declaration and your team list.
• Judging: real problem and impact (25 points), working app (25), AI teammate quality (20), responsible AI, data and security (15), demo and clarity (15). The jury's decision is final.
• Everyone follows our code of conduct, on Teams, on Discord and everywhere online: aicommunitydays.ai/code-of-conduct

Good to know
• No paid licence is needed. For Power Platform trials you need a work or school account; a personal Gmail or Outlook address does not work. We show you how to get one in the set-up clinic.
• Your team can be in different countries. The schedule is in Paris and Tunis time.
• Sessions are in English and French. You can present in English or French.
• Questions, or a challenge to propose: [email protected]
